While I love to travel, I also have interests that I can do a little closer to home. I love to golf and I've been golfing for pretty much my whole life. Both my parents play and our house is actually on the golf course! I played on my high school's varsity golf team all four years with two of my best friends, Madi and Emma.
I'm an only child so my parent's and I are really close. They are my biggest supporter's and they are the people I go to when anything in my life is happening, whether it's good or bad. They like to send me pictures of their lives as empty nesters, especially when they are at a party and I'm studying for exams.

I love to read and watch TV. There is just something about being a part of a whole new world and getting a glimpse of someone else's life that really draws me in. I don't really have a favorite TV show but my favorite books are the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series and The Summer I Turned Pretty series.
Two of my most favorite foods are Kraft Three Cheese mac and cheese (my mom makes it the best) and grilled cheese with ketchup on the side for dipping (which my dad makes the best). My favorite grown up foods are crab cakes or tortilla soup.
Thanks for reading a little bit about me!

Your Auzzie is so cute, Kelly! That is one of my all-time favorite dog breeds too; they are so smart and lovable. I love the idea of him herding gold carts! Maybe he will make an appearance in your storywriting this semester. And if you are into Percy Jackson, maybe you will want do a Greek-inspired project for the semester. You can see what you think when you get to the project brainstorming this week. Do you know about the theoi.com website with all the Greek gods and goddesses? It's fabulous! (theoi means "gods" in Greek)
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly! Your travels sound amazing! Where in Indonesia did you live? How did you end up moving there?
ReplyDeleteI am also a fan of the Percy Jackson series. Do you like the spin-offs as well or mostly the original series? Do you think you'll end up reading much Greek mythology in this course?
It's great that you're so close to your parents. I'm also really close to my mom, and it's great to have someone I can talk to about anything.
Emily
Hi Emily! I lived in Balikpapan, which is on the island of Borneo, and my family moved there because my dad is in the oil industry. I've read a few of the spin-off books but they just came out so long after the original series it was hard to get into them with out reading the original series again, which I did because I just love them so much!

ReplyDeleteHi Kelly. Auzzie is so cute. My uncle has two australian shepherds that ride around in his truck with him to work (he's a farmer), they are such a good breed. I saw that you were in AOII from your favorite places blog post, my roommate is too, Chelsea Journee, maybe you know her? It is so cool that you lived in Indonesia for a while, my G-big is actually there now volunteering in the peace corps. What was your favorite part about living outside of the U.S.? Collecting quarters with your dad is so cute and such a great idea to stay close. It was nice getting to read you post. Great Job!
ReplyDeleteAubryelle
Hi Aubryelle! I actually do know Chelsea! Her big and my big were and still are roommates so we run into each other all the time. My favorite part of living outside the U.S. was the ability to travel so easily and to some really different places.
DeleteHey Kelly. I think it's really cool that you've grown up outside of the US. I believe that changes in scenery allows people to become open thinkers and be more accepting of that which is different. Like you, I am a fan of golfing as well, having been exposed to it as a high schooler. One day I hope to save enough to buy myself a decent set of clubs and take a few beginner classes so that I can actually say that I know how to golf. As for your favorite foods, I like that you don't have such a pretentious taste for food. Simple is not always bad!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the rest of the semester.
Hi Kelley! Well first off praying for hometown of Houston, TX. That is so cool that you were able to experience living in another country at such a young age. I think everyone should experience another culture at some point in their life.
ReplyDeleteI actually collect coins as well! My dad started ordering them from me when I was a little kid and now I have a huge collection, but I always had more fun when I would actually get the coins from transactions versus a company that we ordered it from.
I look forward to getting to know you!
Hello Kelly!
ReplyDeleteReading this I realized how much we have in common. I also live on a golf course (Indian Springs Country Club) in Broken Arrow. I'm also a only child so I understand what its like to spend a lot of time with your parents and them actually becoming your best friends. I used to have a blue heeler dog named Buster with one blue eye as well haha!
I think it is awesome how much you got to travel through your life already. I wish I could travel more but I guess that is what the future has in store for me!
Good luck this upcoming semester!
PS: I love ketchup with my grilled cheeses as well.
Hi there Kelly! Your story when you are living in Indonesia is a bit similar to mine. I was born in Vietnam, but moved to the US as a very young age as well (just the opposite of yours :D). I never know that you can actually live on a golf court until I read your introduction here. Auzzie is so adorable and good luck with the semester!
ReplyDeleteHey Kelly, beautiful photos. It's nice that you get to share a passion for golf with your parents. I actually have just recently been exposed to golf as my best friend here at OU played golf in high school at Sperry High, and my brother-in-law is a pro golfer. He actually just finished up a tournament in Nicaragua this week. Also, you are so welcome for reading a little about you!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly! First, I think it is awesome that you got to experience Indonesian and Asian culture growing up. That is something most people won't be able to do in their lives to the extent that you did. I have lived in Oklahoma my whole life, but I think it would be fun to travel and experience other cultures. The one sport I wish I was better at is golf so I respect and admire you for being good at it. Collecting quarters with your grandma is what caught my attention the most about your introduction because I did the same thing with my grandma on my dad's side when I was little.
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly! I love that you collect national park quarters. You’ll always have a little memory with you by doing that. I think it’s a cool idea. I’ve always wanted to learn how to golf. My dad loves it, and he’s always tried to get me involved with it, but it just never happened. However, it’s better late than never. Also, you can never go wrong with mac and cheese!
ReplyDeleteHiya Kelly!
ReplyDeleteI love your dog! He's so cute! I think its super cool that you got to live abroad for so long; that's one of my life goals, and I'm getting closer every day! I also really like to read, and I have read almost all of Rick Rioridan's books, but the Percy Jackson series is 100% my favorite. I'll still reread it sometimes if I get bored.
Hey Kelly, it sounds like you have already lived a pretty sweet life. I loved the fact that you had favorite "grown-up" foods haha. To me growing up is irrelative, we all have to keep the kid in us or things get boring. I was relieved that I wasn't the only one that also enjoys ketchup on their grilled cheese.

ReplyDeleteHi Kelly!
ReplyDeleteWow, that’s so cool that you grew up in Indonesia so you got to travel a lot! I love that you can play golf with your family since your parents play too and that you live on a golf course. Your family is so adorable; I am so envious of how close you are to your parents! That is so cool that you have a collection of national quarters!
Hello Kelly!
ReplyDeleteA class about dogs would have been awesome! I think this class is pretty cool too. I could only imagine what it was like living in Asia. I always told myself if I ever made it to Japan I would probably never come back haha. Your dog is adorable and a pretty cool breed. I am a Rottweiler and cat person myself.
Hi Kelly!
ReplyDeleteThat's so incredible that you moved to Indonesia at a very young age an lived there for so long. I bet it was amazing to get to experience the different cultures and aspects of life over there. Why did you have to move? I remember when I was at a young age I had to move from California where all my relatives are to Oklahoma. It way a drastic difference for me as a kid, but I can't imagine what moving countries would be like. Also, yo Australian Shepard is SO ADORABLE! I want one of my own when I have a place of my own, but for now my Chihuahua will suffice.
Hey Kelly! Just in your first paragraph, I am intrigued. Living in Indonesia? That is awesome. I have only been out of the United States once and it was on a cruise. I am close with my family also. It was hard for my parents when I moved out to go to school. I am the baby of family and they had to deal with the empty nest syndrome. They did not like it. I am also a huge dog person and Auzzie is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly!
ReplyDeleteI thought your introduction layout was really cool, I love your beach and ocean background! Also I really like how you incorporated pictures of your family and your dog, Auzzie. Auzzie is so cute! Living overseas must had been a great experience and I’m excited to checkout your other blog posts like you “my favorite places. I hope you are having a great semester!
Hey, Kelly! It is so awesome that you got to visit so many different places as a kid. I envy you in that respect. I've been all over the United States but I've never been abroad (Canada does not count!). Your Auzzie is so cute! My very first dog Sampson, a German Shepard/Siberian Husky mix, had one blue eye and one brown eye! Your line about your favorite "grown-up foods" made me laugh - sometimes the best foods are the simple ones, especially if your mom makes it! Hope your semester is going well.
ReplyDeleteHey there Kelly! First of all, your dog is so cute! I love dogs but seriously such a cute pup you have. My dog turned 10 today but she still loves to play, which sounds just like your dog does. I bet they would be great friends. Also, my dad and I collect all the quarters from all the states and national parks too! Such a fun hobby. Thanks for sharing your introduction, and happy blogging!
ReplyDeleteHi KellY! I love your dog! I have the same type and they almost look identical her name is Shiloh. She is very sweet but very protective of my family. How cool that you lived in Indonesia for a few years. My dream would be to live in another country for 1-2 years and have the opportunity to experience cultures outside of America. How funny, my dad and I have been collecting different coins from all over the USA. I look forward to reading your stories.
ReplyDeletePERCY JACKSON IS ALSO MY FAVORITE BOOK SERIES! Ok I've calmed down now. But seriously, it's so good. I've been reading it since the seventh grade and I think I love all the books even more now as an adult. That's so coll that you lived overseas with your family, my family is terrified of anything outside of the south/midwestern United States.
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly! Great to "meet" you! It's so cool that you have gotten the chance to travel with your family - Indonesia, I mean woah! It makes since though that you would prefer to be with your family. I'm a total homebody and my parents are like my best friends so I'm glad I'm not alone in that regard! Your dog is a sweet angel and I'm so glad you have her - we absolutely need more dogs in college!! Hope you're having a great week!
ReplyDeleteHey Kelly. Percy Jackson I've heard was a good book series but I've only seen the movies. From what I heard from my cousin though, I understand why the movies stopped. It's really cool that you lived in Indonesia for a while. I myself moved to the Middle East as a child and had an amazing experience. I am a huge home body so I understand where you come from. Even here I spend most of my time just hanging out at my apartment studying, watching Netflix, playing computer games and working out. Your dog is awesome and I wish I was able to have a dog here at my apartment, but that would just increase my rent. Good luck in your years here at OU.
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly,
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to meet you, though it is through the internet. That is really cool that you lived overseas for a while! I have never been out of the country so I couldn't tell you any cool stories about out of country experiences. By the way love your dog, he is really cute and sounds like he is also really energetic! I hope you're having a great semester!
Hi Kelly — it's great to learn a little about you here! I've only been overseas once, so living somewhere like Indonesia for such a long time sounds fascinating to me! Also, your dog is adorable — Australian Shepherds are so wonderful. And I definitely used to collect quarters as well — it's such a neat hobby and I'm glad it's bonded you and your family. I hope you have a great and successful rest of your semester!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly! Your dog is the cutest — Auzzie's a great name for an Australian Shepherd. I also love that you love mac and cheese and grilled cheese. Those are classics, and of course I think my parents make them best too. It's also super neat that you collect quarters! What a sweet hobby. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the rest of your semester!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly!
ReplyDeleteYour dog is absolutely adorable. I have a German Shepherd myself, and I hate leaving home because that means leaving him. It's awesome to hear about your relationship with your parents. I really love that! I read that you liked grilled cheese with ketchup, and wow, I am so glad I did. People think I'm weird for doing that, but it tastes so good! I wish you the best of luck the rest of semester. Only 4 weeks left! How crazy is that? Nice to meet you!
Hey Kelly!
ReplyDeleteIt was really interesting to read a little bit about you. That is really interesting that you lived in Indonesia as a child for a few years, I actually have two friends that did the same thing, perhaps you may have ran into them at some point.
It is also interesting that your dog has two different colored eyes!
Hope you have a great semester!
Hello Kelly! I think it’s awesome that you have been able to experience and travel the parts of the world you mentioned. I have some friends I met that are from Indonesia so I’d like to travel there and learn a little more about their culture. Your dog is a handsome fella, Aussies and Border Collies are my favorite type of dogs! Hope you have a great rest of the year!
ReplyDeleteHello Kelly!
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you. I too am a kid at heart. Wow it is so cool that you got to live in Indonesia! I have only tried golf once and I can tell you I am no good. I too have an Australian Shepard. I love Auzzie’s eyes. That is so odd. I too collect quarters! My grandpa is the one who got me started on my collection when he bought me a map of the U.S. with a slot for each quarter. I look forward to reading your work.
Hey Kelly,
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool you got to live in Indonesia for a few years! Im sure you learned a lot over there and provided you with a respect for the people. Your dog is very cute and its so funny that he chases the golf carts going the wrong way! Im guessing you really like cheese since your favorite foods are mac and cheese and grilled cheese. (Although I hate ketchup) I know i'm weird. But I hope you have a great rest of your semester!
